Quality accommodation options arranged and selected by the school only

ALCE guarantees a quality accommodation experience. We arrange and select all the options that we offer.
Accommodations are included from the Sunday before the course starts until the Saturday after the end of the course.
NB: It is possible to add maximum one night before and/or one night after, depending on availabilities. Please ask when at time of booking.

SCHOOL-OWNED AND MANAGED RESIDENTIAL OPTIONS (self-catering)

It is a perfect solution for students who wish to live more independently, yet being part of a “family” group of international students.
WHO? Students in the apartment are all from the school and mixed: any gender, age and nationalities.

PLACEMENTS? the school does the placements*. We try to separate mother tongues and regroup people by age (when possible).
We try our best considering everything, the cohabitation always works really well!

You will receive your exact accommodation details about 2 weeks before your arrival with all details and instructions.
BILLS are included in the price as well as weekly cleaning of the common areas.

Check In: Sunday (before start of course) from 10.30 am to 5.00 pm (there is no reception)
Check out: Saturday (after end of course): before 11.00 am

BILBO and FRODO HOUSES

There are 2 different shared apartments located in the same elegant building, less than five minutes walking from the school. The have both recently been entirely renovated and are finely furnished.

Centrally situated, the residence is within walking distance to the famous shopping streets of Bologna. The most beautiful city park, the Giardini Margherita is only few hundred metres away and represents a perfect spot for recreation activities or simply to relax and enjoy the luscious greens spaces.

BILBO House apartment (1st floor - elevator)

Contains 5 bedrooms and includes the following facilities:

fully equipped kitchen with flat screen / cable television
2 shared bathrooms, with shower and toilet
washing machine and dryer(free of charge)
common area (an open space living / dining area)
Wi-Fi (free of charge)
4 air-conditioned rooms (included in summer Price mid June to mid September) the only twin room of the apartment does not have air conditioned

FRODO House apartment (ground floor)

Feature 5 single rooms and includes following facilities:

fully equipped kitchen
2 shared bathrooms, with shower and toilet
common living room area with flat screen / cable television
free high speed WIFI internet access
washing machine and dryer machine (free of charge)
dishwasher
Air conditioned in all rooms (included in summer Price mid June to mid September)

GANDALF HOUSE

This is our third and new school-owned and managed residential option.
The apartment is all newly renovated (2018). It is a modern house located just outside the city centre.

It is located just outside the city centre, in a very nice and green residential area. You will find all facilities around. It is two kilometres away from the school, about 20 minutes walking or less than 10 minutes by a direct bus (bus stop outside the house) or by bike.
There are very good connections to the city centre: a 15-20 minutes direct ride, even late at night.
We tend to put more mature students in Gandalf.

GANDALF House apartment (ground floor) offers:

Contains 3 furnished bedrooms and includes the following facilities:

1 shared bathroom, with shower and toilet
Free Wi-Fi
Washing machine
Air conditioned (included in summer Price mid June to mid September)
Nice big terrace

*NB: OTHER SHARED APARTMENTS MAY BE USED DURING THE PEAK SEASON (JUNE TO SEPTEMBER): Please note that our school apartments get fully booked quickly during the peak months so we may use extra privately owned shared apartments. Prices are the same as the school ones.
Standards are at least similar to our school apartments (except a/c not always available). They are located within walking distance to the school (15-20 minutes average and easily reachable by bus/bike- 10-15 minutes.
Don’t worry! We chose them and visit them, they are all very nice, convenient and comfortable.

Homestay

All of our host families are carefully selected and are inspected regularly. We choose only families who are friendly and are able to provide good quality accommodation.

Living in a host-family gives you a wonderful opportunity to learn and practice your Italian and staying with an Italian family is also a great cultural experience as you interact daily with local people.

We offer 2 types of stay in host-families:

Half-board: with breakfast and dinner included
Self-catering: no meals included but kitchen use allowed

This accommodation option includes:

Laundry service (once a week)
Stay in single rooms (unless you wish to share with a friend, spouse etc...)
In most cases the bathroom is shared with other members of the family
Maximum number of students per household is two, and at any time, we do not place two students of the same mother tongue in the same homestay, unless requested

Here are some information on what to expect:

Type of families: you can be hosted by different kinds of host-families: Parents with children or teenagers, married couples with no children, mothers with children, elderly couples, single women.
Keep in mind that any type truly has its advantages and that all our families have been carefully selected! We are all different so there cannot be standards.
Type of house: our homestay families may live in a house or an apartment.
Distance from ALCE: generally, most homestays are located no more than 30 minutes (walking distance) or 10/15 minutes (short bus ride), with a maximum of about 2 kilometers. Bologna is also a great city to cycle!
Keys: you will get your own keys so you can move freely as you wish
